TORONTO – “The Auditor General’s report produced some shocking answers – now it’s time for Kathleen Wynne to answer for this scandal at a judicial inquiry,” said Cambridge PC MPP Rob Leone.
Leone was reacting to last week’s report on the politically-motivated cancellation of the Oakville gas plant.
Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk found that the cost of the cancellation had reached $1.1 billion thus far, despite Premier Wynne’s assurances that the cost would be no more than $40 million.
But taxpayers still don’t know the final cost of cancellation, or who was ultimately responsible for the cover-up. And the NDP continue to act as sidekicks to the Wynne Liberals.
“The report confirmed that the cost so far was much higher than Kathleen Wynne initially told us, and that she was intimately involved in both the decision to cancel and discussions about cost,” said Leone. “It’s time for Kathleen Wynne to stop hiding the truth about this mess.”
“Given the scale of this scandal, it’s time for the NDP to choose a lane – they either stand with hard-working families or they choose to support a government that spent a billion dollars on the Liberal seat-saver program,” said Leone. “The only way we’ll get to the bottom of this mess is to change the team that leads this province, and by calling a judicial inquiry.”
