Today, the Legislative Assembly of Ontario agreed to the membership for its Standing Committees. Rob Leone, MPP for Cambridge and North Dumfries is the Ontario PC lead on the Standing Committee of Estimates.
“I am happy that we finally struck Standing Committees after months of delay,“ said Leone. “I am looking forward to getting down to business and working alongside my fellow colleagues on the Standing Committee of Estimates.”
The mandate of the Standing Committee on Estimates is to study the estimates of a Budget when it is presented to the Legislature and to study the estimates of Government Ministries for each fiscal year. The Estimates Committee will be one of the most important committees in the current spring session. “With Ontario continuing down its current path toward a $30 billion deficit and over $400 billion of debt, never has there been a greater need for the Liberal Government to be held to account,” said Leone.
“I came to the Legislature to restore my constituent’s confidence in provincial politics and to hold this government accountable for their promises and decisions,” said Leone. “I began this mission by introducing a motion holding the McGuinty Liberals accountable for their hospital promises and I look forward to continuing to hold this government accountable while sitting on the Estimates committee.”
